MacEwan Athletics and Wesmen Athletics
WINNIPEG, Man. – Alexander Lyndon's let-serve ace in the third set – his fifth on Saturday – broke the program record for the most by a Griffin in a Canada West match, but MacEwan fell 3-0 to the Winnipeg Wesmen and succumbed to a weekend sweep.
Lyndon's five service aces in the match broke the old program record of four, shared by Shane Kerrison (2014), Ryan Zachary (2017), Lyndon himself (2022), Daylan Andison (2022) and Alexei Walisser (2022).
Winnipeg won the match 25-15, 25-17, 25-23 to improve to 11-7 and are now fourth in Canada West. MacEwan fell to 0-18.
Lyndon also produced 25 assists, five digs and a kill for the Griffins. Andison led MacEwan with nine kills, an ace, three digs and two blocks, accounting for a team-high 11.0 points. Mitchel Gorman added eight kills and eight digs. Daniel Hebert added 11 digs.

But the Griffins' attack was held in check for much of the night, finishing at .078, a slight improvement over Friday's paltry .026 number.
Winnipeg got 10 kills each from Nigel Nielsen and Liam Kristjanson and rolled 14 different players in the match with an overall attacking percentage of .310.
One of the home team's few blips the entire night was falling behind 4-1 in the first set. From there, however, the Wesmen won 14 of the next 19 points to take an 18-9 lead and they were rarely tested much beyond that.
MacEwan heads into a bye week, but will return to action against cross-town rival Alberta at the David Atkinson Gym on Feb. 2-3.
