The Griffins women's soccer team is in for a season of change as they shift from the Prairie to the Pacific Division for the 2017 Canada West season.

Their campaign will open on the road at Thompson Rivers (Sept. 9) and UBC Okanagan (Sept. 10).

The Griffins, who are looking to build off a fourth-place finish in Canada West in 2016 (going 8-3-3 in the regular season), will host none other than cross-town rival Alberta in their home opener on Sept. 15 (7:30 p.m., Clareview) before welcoming Mount Royal for their JP Bowl opener on Sept. 16 (Noon).

Other season highlights include a visit from Trinity Western – who are currently riding a Canada West record 27-game regular season winning streak – on Sept. 24 (Noon, JP Bowl).

The Canada West women's soccer playoff format is changing in 2017 with a Final Four instead of a Select Six conference tournament. The top seed in the Prairie Division will host the showdown this season, set for the first week of November. The U Sports championship will be hosted by the University of Manitoba Nov. 9-12.

Again this season, CW is set to offer an extensive soccer webcast package via Canada West TV – the conference's official streaming platform. Over 150 conference soccer games were streamed in 2016, with that number scheduled to grow in the coming years.

A full list of package options will be available mid-August, when the conference unveils its new streaming platform, as part of the conference's rebrand.
