EDMONTON – With dazzling footwork, good vision and a strong ability to create in the offensive third, the latest addition to MacEwan men's soccer head coach Adam Loga's recruiting class bolsters the Griffins' goal-scoring abilities for the upcoming season and beyond.

BTB Academy striker Sacre Musa adds another weapon to a growing arsenal for a Griffins team looking to return to the Canada West playoffs in 2024.

"He's good on the ball, is a good 1v1 attacker and has a lot of upside going forward," said Loga. "With him being coached by (Griffins assistant coach) Allan (Zebie) at BTB, it should be a smoother transition. He's one that could probably make an impact, especially as the season goes on, similar to Kayden Dugas in how he impacted our program towards the end of the season as he got going."

Musa will join previously-announced Griffins recruit Miles Frett-Baptiste as BTB products in the incoming class, but he's familiar with many on the roster already as he's playing League 1 for BTB with current Griffins Tobie Ajibade, Antony Caceres, David Sithole and Cedric Nataroum.

"Great kid. He's playing League 1, so we actually played against him (in May)," said Loga, who coaches Edmonton Scottish in that loop. "He's currently playing League 1 BTB with a bunch of our players, so, that's going to help his transition."

The left-footed forward has been a part of several highly-successful teams in his career to date, most recently helping BTB's U17 team win 2023 Alberta indoor and outdoor provincials, and capture a silver medal at nationals.

The 2023 Archbishop O'Leary player of the year has helped his high school team win back-to-back Metro Edmonton Athletics Div. 1 championships, and has also starred in several showcases, including being a part of FTF's Winter Wave Showcase championship squad in 2022. In 2023, he scored 16 goals and 28 points in 14 games for BTB, while notching six tallies and 10 points in eight contests for O'Leary.

"He adds depth to a strong forward group," said Loga. "It's exciting as a program to have two really good (recruiting) years – our '05 class last year and now our '06 class.

"I think it's just moving in such a positive direction. As a staff, we're really excited about that."
