EDMONTON – Sticking with an underlying theme to add more size this off-season, MacEwan Griffins men's basketball head coach Mike Connolly announced the addition of 6-foot-6 Saskatoon post Austen Dreaver on Friday.

The promising prospect will bring a mature game to the court for the 2022-23 Canada West campaign after playing against older competition in the Canadian Junior Basketball League (CJBL) last season with Bridge City.

"Austen's maturity is ahead of his years, and this is a direct result of the high quality of coaching he has had, and that he's played against older guys his whole life," said Connolly.

"Playing against older Competition has developed his physical and mental toughness."

Dreaver has also honed his skills with RISE Basketball in Saskatchewan.

"Austen is a young hard-working player who we predict will be a quality Canada West post," said Connolly.

"He is a tough post, who is already a good fundamental defender protecting the key area. He works extremely hard and we look forward to watching him grow and develop into the quality basketball player we think he can be."
