EDMONTON – The MacEwan Griffins women's soccer team continues to bring in players from the top youth teams in Alberta.

Joining her Millwoods-based Selects FC teammate Selynna Simao on the Griffins is the latest recruit in head coach Dean Cordeiro's 2022 recruiting class: Hailey Mishio.

Part of a Selects FC 2004-born team that went to nationals in 2019, Mishio brings versatility and talent to the pitch with the ability to play multiple positions.

"We're excited about Hailey," said Cordeiro. "She's got good size. She's very versatile. We see her more as a fullback, but she can also play in the midfield."

The Austin O'Brien grad is entering the Bachelor of Physical Education program at MacEwan. Cordeiro is already familiar with her as she's played for his club team Northwest United.

"Hailey brings a lot of intangibles," he said. "She's a great athlete – can get up and down the pitch. She plays with an edge, and we like her ability to connect passes.

"Hailey will come in and compete. We're excited about her addition to the program."
