LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Scoring 22 points off 18 MacEwan turnovers proved to be the difference in the game for the Lethbridge Pronghorns in their 88-64 triumph over the Griffins on Saturday night.

The fourth quarter sticks out like a sore thumb for the Griffins, who were outscored 28-13 in the final 10 minutes, turning a single-digits deficit into an untenable one.

"We had a lack of mental toughness and showed our youth as we got frustrated," said MacEwan head coach Mike Connolly. "We lost focus mentally and made discipline errors, turning the ball over to allow them to outscore us 28-13 in the fourth quarter."

With the result, the Griffins fall to 0-18, while the Pronghorns improve to 6-12.

Job Janda continued a big weekend for the Griffins, leading the team with 16 points on 50 per cent shooting, while Scottie Austin added 12 and Matthew Osunde recorded a double double (11 points and 10 boards).

Lethbridge was led by Jeff Rodehutskor, who had 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Angelo Mbituyimana also had a double double with 13 points and 11 boards. Karter Fry (18 points) and Deng Dak (16 points) also hit double digits for Lethbridge.

The Griffins will chalk it up to another learning experience as they build for next season.

"We have to make better decisions on offence and not throw the ball away," said Connolly. "Turnovers are mental discipline and tonight we had zero discipline."

MacEwan will finish the season at home against Regina on Feb. 10-11.
