EDMONTON – Coming off a successful fourth-place finish in Canada West last fall, the MacEwan Griffins women's soccer team continues to build for the future.

After beating the Junior Pandas 6-0 in an exhibition game last weekend – led by Salma Kamel's three-goal outburst – the Griffins head into more winter action at the University of Alberta Pandas Snow Cup (Friday and Saturday at Foote Field).

MacEwan will play Canada West rivals Thompson Rivers (Friday, 10 a.m.) and Alberta (Friday, 4:30 p.m.) before meeting the Junior Pandas (Saturday, 9:15 a.m.) and Concordia University (Saturday, 4:15 p.m.).

The Griffins will then host a Winter ID camp on Tuesday, Jan. 30 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at Commonwealth Field House (11000 Stadium Road). The camp is open to any high-level club or high school player interested in attending MacEwan University.

Players will play in a series of 9 v 9 games and will be evaluated on technical, tactical and physical ability. Those who impress will be invited back for a secondary camp or contacted by head coach Dean Cordeiro to set up an official visit.

Spots are limited as the camp will be capped at 30 players. The cost is $20/player. For more information, contact Cordeiro at 780-916-8363 or via e-mail (CordeiroD@macewan.ca).
