Curling skip Steinke won a national title and three-straight AOY awards

Jordan Steinke, Curling

(Inducted 2025)

The only student-athlete in the history of MacEwan Athletics to win a Griffins Athlete of the Year award three-straight seasons in a row, Steinke had a dominant run as a MacEwan curler from 2011-15.

Steinke was named Male Athlete of the Year in 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15, while also becoming just the third Griffins student-athlete all-time to win four Most Oustanding Player Awards for their sport. He was the Griffins' MOP in the three aformentioned seasons, as well as in his rookie campaign (2011-12).

The skip's highlight moment of his MacEwan career was leading a Griffins men's team to the CCAA national championship in 2013-14. His rink of Tristan Steinke, Brett Winfield, Ben Bissell and Kristian Bush knocked off NAIT in the final to win gold.

A year earlier (2012-13), Steinke led a team that also included Jason Ginter, Bissell and Brett Hilker to a CCAA silver medal.

Steinke was named ACAC Curler of the Year twice (2011-12 and 2014-15), and both were in seasons his rink didn't win a CCAA medal, proving how dominant he was in all four of his years with the Griffins, picking up at least one accolade every year.
