CALGARY – Milan Jaksic posted his second double double of the season on Saturday to match the MacEwan Griffins program career record for the stat in Canada West men's basketball play with five.

With 18 points and 10 rebounds, the fourth-year forward had the Griffins in the fight against U SPORTS No. 3 Calgary, but the Dinos ultimately emerged with a 99-74 victory.

"Milan was our most consistent player this weekend in his effort and leadership," said Connolly.

Jaksic finished the weekend series in Calgary with 42 points and 17 rebounds.

On Saturday, his effort allowed him to match the program record of five career Canada West double doubles held by Ryan May (2014-16) and Matthew Osunde (2021-24).

The Griffins also got 14 points from Filip Karanovic off the bench and 12 each from Hugo Alonso and rookie Diego Presingular.

"It was a much better effort," said Connolly after the Griffins lost to Calgary 96-56 on Friday. "We played as a team on offence and defence. We had much better focus and hustle.

"There is a reason why Calgary is ranked No. 3 in the country."

Dinos head coach Dan Vanhooren earned his 300th win in the victory as Calgary improves to 6-0, dropping MacEwan to 0-4. The Dinos had five players in double figures on Saturday – Martynas Sabaliauskas (20), Dylan Lutes (15), Nate Petrone (13), Noah Wharton (13) and Javier Ramos-Yzquierdo (10).

Next up for the Griffins is a road trip to Winnipeg to face the Wesmen on Nov. 22-23.
