EDMONTON – MacEwan men's golfer Justin Berget has captured the inaugural Sutton Player of the Month award for his stellar production in September.

On Sunday, Berget won the ACAC men's individual golf championship in an impressive performance in inclement weather at Coal Creek Golf Resort in Ryley, Alta. He shot 2-under through three rounds of action and won the title by nine shots.

With his performance, Berget also led the Griffins men's golf team to a berth in the CCAA national championship Oct. 15-18 in Montreal.

For the victory, he received a gold medal and plaque as ACAC male golfer of the year – which includes a $250 bursary from Alberta Golf – capping a solid month of play from the third-year Commerce student-athlete. Berget also won the ACAC North Regional tournament on Sept. 15 at Red Tail Landing GC.

As Sutton Player of the Month, Berget wins a free night's stay in the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Edmonton.
