EDMONTON – Another season of incredible academic success is in the books for MacEwan Griffins student athletes.

The Griffins Athletics department is pleased to announce 86 student-athletes have received U SPORTS Academic All Canadian honours for the 2023-24 season.

That's 12 more than in 2022-23 and represents the third-highest total the Griffins have had since joining U SPORTS in 2014.

"Our Academic All-Canadians exemplify what it means to excel both in sport and scholarship," said Griffins Athletics Director Joel Mrak. "Their commitment to achieving greatness in the classroom while representing our university with pride on the field is truly remarkable.

"They are shining examples of the best in university athletics and inspire our entire campus community."

Highlighting the list of recipients is women's soccer fullback Hannah Supina, who netted her sixth U SPORTS Academic All Canadian honour (2018-24), matching the program record set by former women's basketball student-athlete Shannon Majeau, who graduated in 2023.

Also, men's volleyball libero Daniel Hebert and women's basketball guard Noelle Kilbreath each received their fifth U SPORTS Academic All Canadian award of their careers, joining an exclusive club of student-athletes only nine strong who've achieved that over their MacEwan tenures.

Men's hockey and women's soccer tied for the most recipients with 16 each, while men's soccer finished with 10 recipients – the most they've ever had.
