SAINTE-VICTOIRE-DE-SOREL, Que. – Justin Berget remains in the hunt individually halfway through the PING CCAA national men's golf championship, but the MacEwan Griffins fell further behind in the team standings on a tough day at Continental GC-St. Laurent.

Berget is alone in fifth place after a 2-over 74 on Wednesday and is 3-over for the championship, three shots shy of leader Guillaume Dubois of Champlain St. Lawrence who has a pair of 72s in the books.

Olivier Ménard (Boomerang d'André-Laurendeau), first-round leader Louis-Alexandre Jobin-Colgan (Champlain St. Lawrence) and Alex Cordero (Camosun) are tied for second at 2-over.

Berget, the 2019 ACAC champion, had two birdies, four bogeys and 12 pars to put another steady round in the books after a 73 on Tuesday.

The rest of MacEwan's entrants didn't fare as well on Wednesday and as a result the Griffins have fallen to ninth in the team competition out of 11 teams. Their score of 632 is well back of leader Boomerang d'André-Laurendeau's 598.

Noah Lubberding is tied for 33rd (78-81), while Stephen Christenson (T42nd – 82-79), Blake Caron (T50th – 81-85) and Nate Gerhardt (53rd – 81-87) round out the standings for the Griffins.

Rounds 3 and 4 run Thursday and Friday.
