EDMONTON – It's possible a 'Moore' will be featured on a Griffins volleyball roster for a full decade.

With Mason Moore graduating from the men's program after five years at MacEwan (2020-25), his younger sister Sofie Moore is set to embark on her post-secondary journey with the Griffins women's volleyball team in 2025-26.

The 5-foot-10 setter is a strong student just like her brother – a soon-to-be five-time U SPORTS Academic All Canadian – and has all the skills to one day earn starts for the Griffins.

"Sofie has a lot of upside as a setter," said Griffins head coach Chris Wandler of the Sherwood Park product. "She's obviously a very gifted athlete. Her placement of the ball is good. She knows how to run a very spread-out offence, which we like.

"She's matured lots over the last couple of years. She's a very good teammate and those are core things we're looking at, especially coming in to take on the role of a backup setter with Payton (Shimoda) in her fifth year."

The Salisbury high school graduate played for Team Alberta and the Pandas Volleyball Club in her youth.

"Sofie is an athletic setter with a great head for the game," said Wandler. "She brings a high level of court awareness, technical skill, and competitiveness that will be a great addition to our program."
