A total of 91 Griffins student-athletes earn 2019-20 All Canadian or Scholar Athlete academic awards

EDMONTON – Academic excellence continues to be a hallmark of MacEwan University Griffins student-athletes.

A total of 91 Griffins were recognized for distinction in the classroom during the 2019-20 season, combining for 106 different academic awards at the U SPORTS, the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) or Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference levels.

MacEwan student-athletes netted 55 U SPORTS Academic All Canadian awards, 43 ACAC Academic Scholar Athlete honours and eight CCAA Academic All Canadian awards.

"The Griffins Athletics Department staff, coaches and alumni are very proud of our student athletes and their commitment to excellence," said MacEwan Director of Athletics Ken Schildroth.

"Student athletes are role models of success and to be recognized as an Academic All Canadian or Scholar Athletes is truly an honour – an accomplishment to be very proud of. Congratulations, Griffins!"

To qualify for the awards, MacEwan student-athletes must have maintained a minimum 3.3 GPA in 2019-20.
