EDMONTON - The MacEwan Griffins women's soccer team has set another new standard for the program, cracking the top five in the U SPORTS national rankings for the first time Tuesday.

After finishing with a 10-2-0 record to top the Canada West Central Division, the squad was bequeathed the fifth-overall spot in the latest rankings released on Tuesday.

"It's our first 10-win season on a reduced schedule, as well," said head coach Dean Cordeiro on the club's best record since joining the conference in 2014. "We see the growth. The team is buying in and we're getting better every day. I love this team. We're going to keep getting stronger. We're going to take it one game at a time."

The Griffins will host a Canada West quarter-final playoff match on Saturday vs. UFV (6-4-2) at 1 p.m. (Clarke Stadium, Canada West TV presented by Co-op). The winner of that match advances to the Final Four, to be hosted by the West Division's top surviving seed.
