Griffins announce women's volleyball coaching change

MacEwan Athletics

EDMONTON – The Griffins women's volleyball program will be under new leadership for the 2022-23 Canada West season as long-serving coach Ken Briggs  will no longer be at the helm, MacEwan Athletics announced Friday.

"On behalf of Griffins Athletics, I want to thank Coach Briggs for his contributions to MacEwan's Athletics department and the women's volleyball team and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors," said MacEwan Director of Athletics Joel Mrak.

Briggs recently wrapped up his 20th season as head coach of the Griffins women's volleyball team – the longest tenure by any coach in MacEwan Athletics history. Over that time, he compiled a 290-182 record, including going 57-105 in seven Canada West seasons.

Briggs' career highlights include leading MacEwan to the 2006-07 CCAA national championship and being named U SPORTS and Canada West women's volleyball coach of the year in 2019-20.

MacEwan Athletics will announce the search for a new head coach in the coming weeks.
