EDMONTON – With some speed and tenacity going out the door with Jennifer Andrash's graduation, the Griffins women's hockey team is replenishing that element in the 2025-26 recruiting class.

Winger Jordana Jones – a product of the Vancouver-based North Shore Hockey Academy in the CSSHL  – will bring those qualities to the Griffins next season.

"She can penalty kill and is a great forechecker," said Griffins head coach Chris Leeming. "She works exceptionally hard when she's hounding pucks. We've got some speed and skill coming in up front to complement our forwards, and hopefully to supplement some secondary scoring for us from the front end."

Jones, who hails from Montrose, B.C. – the same hometown as graduating Griffins men's hockey player Spencer McLean – recorded six goals and 13 points in 30 games for North Shore in the CSSHL's U18 Female Prep division last season.

"When she came for a tour, she actually showcased a pretty sneaky shot that she even admits she doesn't use enough," said Leeming of Jones' ability to create offence. "She's just got good vision and is a pass-first type of player.

"Finding opportunities to use that shot is something we're going focus on,  and something that she's identified she wants to work on, as well."

The 5-foot-5 right-shot forward will look to fill a checking line role for the Griffins.

"Her tenacity when she's on the forecheck to create turnovers will make a difference," said Leeming. "That's something we needed to add. We needed to get a little faster up front and she can bring that to the lineup."
